Timbers 2, Carolina Railhawks 0
Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 1:03PM First off, what is a railhawk? When Googled nothing relating to a bird or any other sort of animal comes up.
Who doesn't want a foam chainsaw? The evolution of the foam finger continues.Last night Amy, Issac and Christina and I met up to watch the Portland Timbers take on the Carolina Railhawks at PGE Park. Christina and I had dinner at Mio Sushi beforehand; that place is money. Good sushi (Christina said so, and she knows sushi), decent prices, and Sake. Back to the game...After the crazy weather we had yesterday afternoon (high winds, hail, lightening and thunder) I was surprised to see a little over 6000 people come out for the game (they announced the attendence, I did not do a head count). And of course the Timbers Army as in full effect. The planning and organization that goes into that volunteer led group is rather inspiring.
The game was a good one, basically what you hope for in a soccer game. The Timbers scored first and early, about 15 minutes into the first half, then locked down the win with a great build up goal at about the 83rd minute mark. And the halftime show was two U8 youth teams playing a short game that was very entertaining. All in all it was a great time, and I'm even a little horse today.
After the game Christina and I went to the Rimsky-Korsakoffee House, a true Portlander's secret and someplace she had never been before. They do coffee and deserts only, both of which are exquisite. If you ever want to go let me know and I'll tell you how to find it ;-)
